Lawal Olaotan, Founder of Chimp Tracker

“Move fast and be open-minded”.

Lawal is a web developer and designer working part-time for a knowledge graph startup, a recent Stirling Management School graduate and the founder of Chimp Tracker. Lawal has recently joined the Enterprise Programme at the university’s business incubator The Hive after finishing his MSc in Business and Management in September 2022. Read about his experience so far:

Q. Please tell us about your business (including the business name):
Chimp Tracker is a cloud application positioned to help individuals and small business owners reduce financial waste by having complete control of their recurring payments and free trialled services.

Q. What motivated you to start your own business?
My key motivation was to combine my product skills with my newly acquired management expertise to solve a problem that matters to me.

Q. What has been one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?
Juggling university studies, a part-time job and trying to start a new business outside my home country.

Q. How has the Enterprise Programme supported you on your journey so far?
I had expert advice on conducting market research during the ideation stage. The Enterprise Programme also helped assess my business idea to meet the UKVIS expectation for starting an innovative business in the UK and provided the business with incubator access, support and training that has been impressive.

Q. Do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?
